We want to hear from you if you’ve developed or used an outcomes framework that includes the perspectives of babies, children or young people!

The Common Outcomes for Children and Young People Collaborative is committed to ensuring that babies, children and young people’s perspectives are at the heart of the frameworks that shape policies and services affecting their lives. To build on our shared commitment, we invite you to contribute your experiences and insights into how young people’s voices have been incorporated in the development of the outcomes approaches frameworks you have developed and use.

Why Your Input Matters

The Common Outcomes Framework continues to develop through extensive collaboration to support the sector to align their approach to outcomes.  As we move towards refining and testing the framework further, we need your expertise to understand:

- How have you included babies, children and young people’s perspectives in the development and implementation of outcomes frameworks within your organisation or sector?

- Which high-level outcomes were prioritised through consultation, and what did the consultation process reveal?

- Can you share your outcomes framework and the insights from children and young people that helped shape it?

A Collaborative Approach to Better Outcomes

During 2022, the Children’s Commissioner’s Office tested the original version of the Common Outcomes Framework against the feedback received from over half a million children and young people through ‘The Big Ask’.  This led to a further iteration, sharing our vision of better and improved across five high level outcomes for all babies, children and young people – safe, healthy, happy, learning and engaged. This next phase of our work aims to ensure the framework remains responsive and reflective of the real perspectives and experiences of babies, children and young people by:

- Refining and developing the framework based on shared insights within and across sectors

- Identifying opportunities for testing the updated framework with children and young people to ensure it truly represents their priorities and speaks to them – building our growing portfolio of case studies to share our collective learning

- Strengthening collective impact by aligning approaches across organisations and sectors

How to Contribute

We invite you to share your insights by:

- Submitting relevant experiences, consultation results, and/or existing frameworks that highlight children and young people’s input

- Providing reflections on the high-level outcomes prioritised and the rationale behind them

- Engaging in upcoming discussions to ensure the framework is tested and refined collaboratively

Your contributions will help ensure that children and young people’s voices continue to shape the policies and services that impact them. Together, we can build a common approach and outcomes framework that reflects their needs, aspirations, and lived experiences.

To share your insights or participate in the discussion, please email Hannah.wilson@commonoutcomes.org.uk. Thank you for your dedication to improving outcomes for babies, children, and young people. We look forward to your valuable input.
